Brian May - My Planet Rocks Interview

Wayne

Ok Tony, heading over. Where the hell is JONny come lately?? I have another idea for an incredible TOP 10'

Tony Newman

Well look who came late to the party...

We've jumped blurbs again... Come to "Press Release"... Where we eagerly await the next challenge...

Jon

Hello, my eager beavers.

I finally answer.

Top 5 live performances:

1. Hyde Park '76
2. Earl's Court '77 (that harlequin costume!)
3. Houston '77 (b&w harlequin costume)
4. Hammersmith odeon '75 ('79, too when Freddie rides on Superman's shoulders?)
5. Live Aid

I might include this Wembley show you guys mention if I only had the chance to see it!

Redspecialinmyheart

Thank you for sharing and for the great music dear Dr.
From my childhood I'm fascinated by the red special sounds, there is no other treasure like this. I love ALL solos made by Thee and can listen to these sounds forever.
Among the not mentioned below and my favorite ones are
LAST HORIZON and
I WANT TO BREAK FREE

Wayne

You know, that would really be a nice little box set. Good idea!! They could also throw in that obscure show from Wembly 1986 ; ) Come on Jon, let's go!

Tony Newman

Nice Wayne! I would pay TOP dollar towards Queen's Money-Make-Machine for this 5 DVD Box Set!!! I don't know what Jon's problem is... He can't be THAT busy... Why are the other "so called" Queen fans not chiming in? Was it the murder of Alser? WHAT?

Wayne

Come on Jon, let's go. I got a great idea for the next top 5!!

Wayne

TOP 5 QUEEN LIVW
1Houston Summit 1977
2 London Earl's Court 1977
3 Buenos Aires 1981
4 London Hammersmith Odeon XMas 1975
5 Paris Pavillion 1979
...and of course LIVE AID!!!

Tony Newman

Am I the only Queen fan left in the world? Come one come all to this contest... Hey look guys, they stole our idea... http://www.16tunes.com/current-tournaments/queen/

Our choices were MUCH better though!!!

Tony Newman

Ok, since I made this one up, I'll bite the bullet!

1. Earls Court 1977
2. Houston 1977
3. Hammersmith Odeon 1975

Boom! That was easy... Wembley anyone???

Tony Newman

I know I know... This is too hard!!! Top 5 Live Shows, how's that?

Tony Newman

Yes, I got it! Top 10 LIVE songs and from which year it was performed... This could reveal the need for Live 70's DVD's...

See you soon!

Wayne

Well done!!!! Ok , what's next for a top10? Any ideas?

Tony Newman

Brian May (Queen) Greatest Guitar Solos according the the experts... Brighton Rock being his obvious GitBox Showcase, I purposely left it off the list.

1. The Millionaire Waltz
2. Killer Queen
3. It’s Late
4. Lazing On a Sunday Afternoon
5. Great King Rat
6. Bohemian Rhapsody
7. We Will Rock You/Good Company
8. Innuendo/Love of My Life
9. Dragon Attack/Gimmie the Prize
10. Wedding March/Stone Cold Crazy/Need Your Loving Tonight

You know guys, all of our lists would make great compilation discs wouldn’t they? What’s next Wayne? I’m going to stir things up and push for Live at Wembley IN BLACK & WHITE!

Wayne

Very nice list! But truly, Jon, DANCER guitar solo is standout in a BAD song. You can almost see Brian's face "what are we doing"? I chuckle when I hear that one! Ok guys, what next?

Jon

Why am I so tardy to the festivities? You boys have made my job difficult. So many tasty tracks. I know I'll repeat a few, but then Tony can compile our choices for us. T, are you sure you aren't an accountant instead of a graphic artist?

TEN (not 15, Wayne) Greatest May solos:
1. It's Late-Hard core rippage!
2. Killer Queen-Jeff Beck is on record as saying he wishes he had played these licks
3. Brighton Rock-never tire of it; Sounds like an angry, rhythmic buzz saw
4. Lazing On a Sunday Afternoon-royal, multi-layered flourish
5. Dragon Attack-sounds like Brian hits the breaks on a roller coaster early in this rip
6. Millionaire Waltz-Brian's playing is so melodic that I have an eargasm each time I hear it
7. The Wedding March (Flash Gordon soundtrack) played this at my wedding reception
8. Dead On Time-Dead on target
9. Doing All Right-takes a sweet song into the stratosphere
10. Put Out the Fire-angry anti-gun licks remind me to leave my pistol in its holster when I start feeling road rage

There, I want to break the rules and add 5 more, but then I might add Dancer or Passing the Open Windows. Wait! Wayne, you DID list one of those! Have you ever met my friend, Alser? You two would get along. (Tony made me do it!)

Tony Newman

DISQUALIFIED!!!
Who Needs You listed TWICE! C'mon Wayne:-)...

Interesting choices Wayne I Like It, I Like It (Who Needs You)... Jon is going to bring some HEAT!!! He likes it LOUD and turned up to 11... I bet Sweet Lady makes an appearance.. Glad to see Gimmie the Prize!!! Love the BagPipeGuitars!!!
