Fancy Finishing School Freddie Style?
'Schools Will Rock You' are calling all teachers and pupils to get creative on the last few days of school to help raise funds for The Mercury Phoenix Trust by getting involved in the international fundraising initiative 'Freddie For A Day' in celebration of what would be Freddie Mercury's 65th birthday this September.
Designed to celebrate the life of rock band Queen’s Freddie Mercury, ‘Freddie For A Day’ is a fun, flamboyant extravaganza of a day, which requires fundraisers to dress up as the Freddie himself in any way that they like.
From a simple moustache to a full head to toe ensemble; Freddie fancy dress competitions, performances of Queen classics in school halls to Freddie flash mobs in the playground, anything goes so get fundraising by either becoming Freddie or sponsoring fellow Freddie’s teachers or pupils anything or dressing up as Freddie yourself, it is all in the name of charity.
Schools Will Rock You want schools to document their Freddie frenzied end of term in any way they want, from filming any Freddie performances to taking pictures and send them to Schools Will Rock You to be used as part of the celebrations for Freddie's birthday on 5th September.
Launched in 2007 and with 1000 schools having taken part so far, Schools Will Rock You, a unique initiative launched by Queen, Ben Elton and the producers of the worldwide hit musical ‘We Will Rock You’ brings the magic of the musical to schools all over the country by providing the information, expertise, tools and support to enable schools to develop and perform their own version of the stage show.
