Claude Nobs: Roger and Brian Tributes

Claude’s utter devotion to music of the highest caliber in every sphere was a true inspiration to us. Over many years we enjoyed his incredible hospitality and generosity of spirit. A man of impeccable taste. We considered him the Prince of Switzerland.

We mourn the sudden and tragic loss of Claude Nobs, the father of the Montreux Jazz Festival, and a long-standing dear friend.

We salute his unparalleled contribution to Blues, Jazz and Rock culture in Europe, and will miss him greatly.

Our deepest sympathies to his family and those near and dear to Claude.

Claude Nobs: Roger and Brian Tributes

Sad news. Such an inspiration. His legacy will live forever. Just look at the Montreux Jazz Festival's back catalouge. He wasn't afraid to bring together a diverse set of musicians based upon the musicmanship that is often overlooked in todays celebrity obsessed culture. Some of my favourite live performances have been a Montreux - Gary Moore, Rory Gallagher, Deep Purple and Rainbow! RIP

Jean-Pierre Siegenthaler

Great man who brought the biggest bands to Montreux and made friends all around the world.
I was there when the casino burned and without Claude there would have been a lot of casualties and that was recognised by DEEP PURPLE in a great song.I would suggest a statue be errected next to the legendary FREDDIE MERCURY in Montreux's shorline.
