Press Release: Queen + Adam Lambert Announce Australia Shows / QOL Pre-Sale Information

Legendary superstar band QUEEN have just announced their ONCE IN A LIFETIME TOUR will tour Australia.  "Let's ROCK those beautiful arenas JUST ONE MORE TIME!” said Brian May.

The tour takes its title from a quote from Adam Lambert when asked at the New York tour launch press conference his view of the opportunity to join Queen for their 24 date US tour which kicks off in June. Lambert  replied: “I think the thing that’s special about this is that it is a limited thing. It’s this special engagement. It’s not like, “Now we’re to the grind.” It’s a once-in-a-lifetime tour.”

QUEEN + ADAM LAMBERT will tour Australia in August and Fan Club tickets and Official Packages will be on sale on Thursday 22nd May noon local time. Tickets to the general public will go on sale on Wednesday 28th May. All tour details, tickets and official package information can be found at

This is the first QUEEN tour of Australia since 1985.

THE ONCE IN A LIFETIME TOUR will kick off in Perth on Friday  22nd August at Perth Arena, then travel to Sydney on Tuesday 26 August at Allphones Arena,  Melbourne on Friday 29 August at Rod Laver Arena with the grand finale at Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Monday 1 September.

Queen + Adam Lambert received glowing reviews for their performance together at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas last September, triggering a conversation between Adam, Roger and  Brian to take the show on the road.  Rolling Stone said, “Lambert astounded the audience on songs like ‘We Will Rock You’ and the closing ‘We Are The Champions’ and ‘Crazy Little Thing Called Love’.  It was the most anticipated act of the night.” Billboard claimed, “…Queen effectively stole the show, with timeless songs that music fans of all genres can sing along to” and the Hollywood Reporter exclaimed, “Adam Lambert, Queen bring down the iHeart house.  With the perfect mix of rock attitude mixed with style, theatricality, sex appeal and impressive vocal gymnastics, [Lambert] took the band’s music to new heights.”

The threesome first shared the stage during American Idol in May 2009 for a performance of “We Are The Champions”. They teamed up again in 2011 at the MTV European Music Awards in Belfast, Ireland for an electrifying eight-minute finale of “The Show Must Go On”, “We Will Rock You” and “We Are The Champions” and in the summer of 2012, Lambert performed a series of shows with Queen across Europe as well as dates in Russia, Ukraine and Poland.  They also performed three sold-out gigs at London’s Hammersmith Apollo.

Promoter Paul Dainty said of this momentous tour “Since I have started promoting and producing concert tours, one of my biggest dreams has been to bring Queen back to Australia and now this dream is a reality.  This will be a long awaited chance for Australian fans to see one of the greatest rock bands in history and, as Rolling Stone recently said ‘’Adam Lambert fronting Queen will astound audiences.”

“I'm completely in awe of the Queen phenomenon,” added Lambert. “The thought of sharing the stage for a full set in Australia is so beautifully surreal. I'm honoured to be able to pay my respects to Freddie's memory; he's a personal hero of mine, and I am deeply grateful for the chance to sing such powerful music for fans of this legendary band. I know this tour will be a huge milestone for me, and with the support of Brian, Roger and the rest of the band, I feel like magic will be on display.”

In a career spanning over 40 years Queen has amassed a staggering list of sales, awards, and hall of fame inductions that is second to none.  Record sales in the hundreds of millions of units, including an unprecedented string of number one albums and top-charting singles that continue to put Queen in the top ten of all-time iTunes sales, seven Ivor Novello Awards, an MTV Global Icon Award, two songs enshrined in the Grammy Hall of Fame -  “We Will Rock You” and “We Are the Champions” – which also remain the most played songs at sports events and arenas around the world.  The statistics show Queen has the highest selling back catalogue in Australia, outselling even The Beatles.  Even with the tragic loss of their uniquely talented singer Freddie Mercury, Queen remain one of the most revered bands in rock and pop history, able to claim one of the most enduring song catalogues of all time. Just think: “Bohemian Rhapsody”, “Another One Bites the Dust”, “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”, “Radio Ga Ga”, “Killer Queen”, “Fat Bottomed Girls”, “Bicycle Race”, songs that form the backdrop to the lives of generations of fans across all ages. With their sterling song craft, virtuoso musicality,  and colossal spectacle of their live performances, Queen – Brian May, Freddie Mercury, Roger Taylor and John Deacon - captured hearts and conquered charts like no other band in history, a legacy that continues to live through the ongoing work and concert performances by May and Taylor. Their musical We Will Rock You, co-created with writer Ben Elton, is approaching its 12th year on stage in London’s West End and is currently touring North America.

Adam Lambert’s stunning performances on the eighth season of American Idol are still widely regarded as some of the most riveting moments in the show’s history. His debut album For Your Entertainment earned him a Grammy Award nomination for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance. His second album, Trespassing, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard charts. The subsequent tour took Lambert from Australia to South Africa, throughout Asia and Eastern Europe and culminated in a sold-out arena show in Helsinki, Finland. In 2013, Lambert appeared as a guest star on the hit TV series, GLEE. He is currently writing and recording for his third album, which will be released this year.

I was so exited when they announce about a tour in a place they haven't been in about 30 years ...meaning one country in South America .... :-( .... Queen you don't realize that South America still love you !

Became a fan in 1986 so never got to see Freddie and the lads in concert in Australia. Couldn't afford to travel to Europe when I was a kid for Live Magic, or even for the Tribute in '92. Saw Brian for Another World in Melbourne in '98 (still got the tour watch..., yep, a watch). Then I moved to the UK and saw Brian and Roger perform with SAS in 2001 for the 10 year anniversary fan club tribute to Freddie at the Ocean Club. I've been to fan club conventions (even in North Wales!), met Roger and Brian in 2001 at the original WWRY auditions (and even sang for them!) in South London, and in Montreux I scribbled a little on the door of Mountain Studios and wept at the Hand Above the Water. It's been a long but wonderful 30 (almost) years.

So while it's not quite the same without Fred and Deacy, I wasn't going to miss this tour. See you in Melbourne and Sydney boys, it's gonna be massive!

That's amazing for Adam and for Queen... Brazil is waiting for the opportunity... please, consider this! We know you will!!!! (Glambert)

Thank you soooo much for extending the Tour Down Under and for bringing the outstanding genius talent of Adam with you!!!! This is a dream come true for me!

Hi - Is this coming to NZ. Went to see Adam in Auckland when here a few years ago. No-one has got near to his talent since he was on Idol. Queen - well - the best!!! The two together - would love to see it but Aus a long way to go from here ...

$105 is very reasonable for Queen, an iconic & legendary band whose music spans decades. There are a lot of other artists who charge much more.

Hey guys, has anyone received their presale email yet? I haven't got mine:(

PLeeeezze can Adelaide South Australia have a concert.... Pretty Please.... We are the only mainland capital in Australia to miss out :-( We attract big crowds. Sellouts... Rolling Stones have sold out 50,000 tickets... pleeeezze....

Great news!
But... what about Brazil and South America?
We'd love watch Queen + Adam Lambert!!

South America please!

So close yet so far. Why don't you make the short hope across the Tasmin Sea and play a gig here in New Zealand.

It's not often decent established bands come here and we have a great facility in Auckland now (Vector Arena) and this will no doubt be the last time you visit down-under as musicians either individually or as a Queen+ gig.

Extremely disappointed in the prices!
Have been a lifelong fan of Queen and absolutely adore Adam, but with the starting price at $105 and they are for seats wwaaaaaayyyy up the back, forget it!

The promoters should be ashamed of themselves for charging so much

YES YES YES, thank you guys for coming down under at loooooong last. It may not be here to NZ but at least oz is only a stones throw. I'll be there for sure. Those moaning who live in Oz should be thankful that QAL are coming to your country at all!

Why no show in Adelaide? Sunday August 24th at the Adelaide Entertainment centre looks good to me.

Hi Guys,

WOW so great you are coming to Australia and here to Perth first, I never got to see Queen with Freddie but he is an inspiration to me for his love of life, his passion for his music and for his love of the people that meant the most to him.
I know the show will be awesome you guys with Adam and I bet Freddie will be watching, keeping an eye on things from above, I am sure of that!!

cheers, can't wait to see you
Cindy x

How do I sign up for the email list please?

Peter Lovegrove

Thank-you, Thank-you, Thank-you Guys, for the decision to tour out here to Australia !!

I was so disappointed back in '85, when I was just a little too young, & unable to go see you guys live.

After the tragic passing of Freddie, I was devastated at the loss of a brilliant musical talent, - but also that I would never get to see Queen Live.

Since then I was at least partially satisfied, & had some of my dream fulfilled when I got to see Brian May tour here in '97.

Even without Freddie, & also John no longer touring, I was so glad to see Brian & Roger still playing under the Queen banner, & I never dreamed that you guys would ever tour Australia !!

I Am so Thrilled about this,.... words can't describe !!
Am overwhelmed !!

You have made my Year !!
