On April 20th 1992, Roger Taylor, Brian May and John Deacon, the surviving members of Queen, took to the stage at Wembley Stadium for the start of one of the biggest events in rock history, which the band had organised to pay tribute to their former colleague – the incomparable Freddie Mercury. Queen were joined by some of the greatest musical talent in the world to celebrate Freddie’s life and work and to increase public awareness of AIDS, the disease that had prematurely ended his life the previous year.

“The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert”  features many Queen classics in unique performances including: “Bohemian Rhapsody”, “Hammer To Fall”, “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”, “Radio Ga Ga”, “I Want To Break Free”, “Under Pressure”, “Somebody To Love”, “We Will Rock You”, “We Are The Champions” and many more.  Special guests include David Bowie, Gary Cherone, Roger Daltrey, Def Leppard, Joe Elliott, Extreme, Bob Geldof, Guns ‘n’ Roses, James Hetfield, Ian Hunter, Tony Iommi, Elton John, Annie Lennox, Metallica, George Michael, Liza Minnelli, Robert Plant, Mick Ronson, Axl Rose, Seal, Slash, Lisa Stansfield, Elizabeth Taylor, Paul Young & Zucchero.

As well as being great entertainment, the concert raised a huge and still growing sum of money for the Mercury Phoenix Trust, a charity formed at the time by Roger Taylor, Brian May and Queen’s longtime manager Jim Beach whose charter is the relief of suffering from AIDS throughout the world.  Profits from this release will be donated by the Mercury Phoenix Trust to AIDS charities around the globe.

The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert: The Definitive Edition - OUT NOW!

for those who are complaining about the def leppard set missing, the band dont have rights to there own music. the record company does.

loml and more than words are missing most probably for sound quality reasons...some times even the best sound engineer cant produce miracles. if the sound isnt good on the master you cant do much with it

and spinal tap is missing for obvious reasons

and innuendo is missing as robert plant wasnt happy with his performance

"Deluxe Edition" "Limited Edition" "Definitive Edition" "Super Dooper Edition" "Give Us Your Cash Edition" "Mugs Edition" "We Dont Care About Fans Edition"
As long as the cash keeps rolling in they don't give a damn about there loyal fans, I will stick with the old BBC VHS tape edition, nice try Brian and Roger were not all blind idiots who will line your pockets for old tat

saj ditta

its bout time they could of done this years bdack on bluray but ok its fine they could of had it on a 2/3 cd live set too?but no i bet theyl bleed us longer in memorie of thier dear freddie.i wonder reg the extras anythingnew or the sameol shit again?

It's nice to have new stuff out in best quality possible, but this is not a "definitive edition". I would love to see the full show released sometime.... where is Innunendo?????

Donovan Falcón

It´s only goog news, because, as it has been said here, we still don´t have the full concert!!!! It´s great to have it in Blu-Ray, but, as I said, it´s a shame that we aren´t having it complete (again). When is it going to be realised (full)??? Dont´know, maybe in 10 years. And I have a question: the Blu-Ray video is really 1080?? Has it been restored?? If not...forget it!!!!!!! Thanks. Greettings from México!!!!!

Please please please tell me this is being released in the States!!!!

What the hell has become of them beats me and I don't really care anymore. They can stick all this shit back up their arses, right where it belongs, I'm done. See you greedy demons at Armageddon! And hey Jim? Go hang yourself you swine!

clive newman

I lookfawrd o buying a copy of the concert . Then I will have all their discs. I only wishI could of been there But fiannce and thr fact I don't like crowds, Still I can drop hint at Chistmas or my birthday.

Agreeing with "QueenFans" above - where is "Love of My Life"?? Unlike Plant's "Innuendo" performance, I highly doubt that Gary & Nuno didn't like it - it was one of the most emotional moments of the show!

I'll probably get the darn thing, but only because my original recording of the live event on MTV is wearing thin, so much so that I can't watch LOML anymore, not that this will help with that. :(

I honestly don't understand how hard it is to either (1) give the fans what they clearly say they want, or (2) if you can't, be honest and explain why. Would it kill you? I love badgers as much as the next guy, being from Wisconsin and all, but it would be nice if Brian could take a break from his crusades and at least explain the deal (he seems to be the one to address these things in the past). SMH...

Compren discos y videos piratas de Queen, porque son mejores que lo que sacan como origina

i have complained a lot lately, in what refers to queen new releases. Although this is yet another re-release, i think i will buy it. since all these material here was not available on the previous DVD.
The biggest blunder is that it's still incomplete......
They could have tried harder this time to get the full show out.
By the way. Where the fuck is rainbow '74???
why wont you release stuff like houston '77, hammersmith '75/79, Buenos Aires '81 or knebworth '86, what is wrong with you guys???

Also remembering Mick Ronson & Elizabeth Taylor. They are also no longer with us.
The best version of a Queen song of the day was
Liza Minnelli´s we are the champions
with perfect arrogant´s.

Do not forget that this blu-ray is standard definition "SD Blu-ray"

I'm buying this :-). Finally something worth to buy. I have no idea why it say's "The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert: The Definitive Edition" when AGAIN this is NOT THE FULL CONCERT that we watched live on TV 21 years ago. Where is "U2"? where is the choir from South Africa? Def Lepard - Let's Get Rock? Extreme - More Than Words? Robert Plant - Innuendo? Anyway I'm gonna buy it.

it;s miracale. God save the queen

Diego Salvador From Quito, Ecuador

This is amazing I'll wait for it's release!
And for those who don't know, Robert Plant asked his performance to be left out of the original VHS concert edition. His petition is respected till now...

George Tropicana

I wouldn't pick this up with a tongs.

The Quicklyman

I seem to remember Spinal Tap performing as well. Don't see them listed among the acts here.

Jaun Tomapasca

Why is 'Innuendo' by Robert Plant during the main concert left out again?

This is amazing timing...I was telling my Queen-mad 6 years old about this concert only last week (after listening to George Michael singing 'Save Me') and starting to look at getting a copy! Perfect!
