September 5th 2011...Five For The 5th!
As you can see the 5th of September 2011 is very much Queen Day!
Freddie's 65th Birthday is being celebrated by Roger and Brian with a spectacular party at The Savoy Hotel, which has been billed as a night of 'comedy and rock n' roll'. Freddie channelled and spirited attire is the dress code for evening with a mandatory moustache! There is to be a live band, a number of varied acts entertaining the guests, plus a charity auction and raffle all in aid of the Mercury Phoenix Trust. Look out for updates and pictures on www.queenonline.com. Watch the Official Freddie Mercury Birthday video here.
Hitting the stores today are also a number Queen's releases. Finally, to celebrate everything that is Queen and Freddie today, our friends over at Google have delivered one final gift...a Google Doodle set to Don't Stop Me Now! The 1:30 clip seeks to capture the dynamism and diversity of Freddie’s career through an animation that’s as colorful and playful as his stage performances. Click here to check it out!
The doodle will be available for users outside of the US on September 5th, Freddie’s 65th Birthday. The doodle will be on Google.com in the US as belated “Happy Birthday” to Freddie since his actual 65th falls on Labor Day.
Google has previously run video doodles for other legendary entertainers including John Lennon and Charlie Chaplin.
So that is it! Log on to google, crank up the new re-issues, slap on tache, get some friends round for a viewing of the new DVD release and our course, and this is a must...raise a glass to Mr Mercury!
