The Lot - An Update

Neill

Credit where it's due... I've had an email from the manufacturer offering me either replacements for the faulty discs, or a further copy of the full box in the 2nd week of December, with the errors corrected.
(PS - The "fault" I reported below was with iTunes, not the discs.)

Jeremy Goes

Hi Michelle, Sorry you are getting so much grief over this box set. I purchased the download version from itunes and there are only 2 or 3 issues with it. I have contacted them to see if anything can be done about the faulty tracks, but have heard nothing. Do you know what, if anything is being done for those of us who purchased from itunes? I hope you don't stress too much over these issues and complaints. I am sure it will all be fine soon. Many thanks! Jem. :)

Gergely

I think we are all waiting for news. The fair solution would be to reprint the whole thing and replace everyone's copy for free. What a pity. Otherwise I enjyed the set very much...!

This is a little bit embarrassing!

The song "when we were young" Will probably come as a Queen track on the next Queen album 201(?).

Agus

Roger (and Queen) needs to get rid of all the medrioces who worked in the box and in Queen Productions..
Start selling decent jobs.
They have to start working and stop profiting with shitty releases.
The Extra Tracks are pauper!
The DVD sucks!!! Blu-ray was to much?
You can see that Roger didn´t give a damn The Lot!
Profit it´s the main concern!!!
And look out a new GHits. it´s coming!!!

LATEST UPDATE ON ERRORS

Disc Error reports:
1.) Track index marker error on track 9 of Shove It.
2.) Pressure On (Electric Fire): wrong mix. No 2nd voice for half of the first chorus. (01:58 - 02:07)
3.) Wrong running order of FOE bonus tracks: "Whole House Rockin'" plays first, "Dear Mr. Murdoch" comes second.
4.) There are some complaints of juddering video on the DVD
5.) Life Changes (Blue Rock) the song suddenly stops, and then the first seconds of the song start again.
6.) Shove It (extended mix) with track duration 5:02 should have been on 'The Cross Singles 1' disc, but instead it has 'The 2nd Shelf Mix' with track duration 5:55.
7.) I Can't Get You Out Of My Head unfortunately has count-in chords badly edited out, causing a slight cut to the beginning of the song.
8.) Celebration is abridged version. 1:45-2:25 fragment of the original 5:15 track is edited out.
9.) Track index marker error on track 3 of Happiness.
10.) Huge speed issue on 'My Country I & II' track.
Track runs 10 seconds longer (slower) also there are two noticeable issues of speed change: first at the very start and the second one is around 5:20. Also similar speed issue with Fun In Space (2:47)
11.) Speed change issues also on My Country (single version)
12.) Some reports of missing/duplicate discs
13.) Roger's The singles disc 2 gives track info ID for disc 1
14.) Magic Is Loose is 6 seconds shorter, it seems to miss a part of the final fading.

Text Error reports:
1.) The lyrics to the first four songs of Electric Fire are missing in the book (it starts with "People on streets")
2.) Incorrect spelling of 'Holocaust'
3.) The credits from 'Blue Rock' are directly taken from Discogs.com , including the (2) suffix for Peter Noone and the ANV-asteriks for Josh Macrae
4.) Wrong information - The book states Dear Mr Murdoch originally featured on the 1994 album "Electric Fire".
5.) In his foreword, final sentence, Rhys talks about a "cole" instead of "collection".
6.) In the track listing of the Cross-singles, last track (Shove it US), it is stated that the inclusion is a last minute "edition" instead of "addition".
7.) The DVD notes incorrectly state that both versions of the "Power to Love" video are included (or perhaps one is actually missing from the disc?)
8.) Happiness Credits - The graphic symbols on the original credits near each musician's name that identified who played in each song are substituted in The Lot booklet by letters such as "R", "a", "v" and even "@"! And anyway they are useless because they should have been reported also after each song's lyric. In the middle of the musicians names they put the copyright credits!

THE ROCK TZAR

Roger - I really want this set.How about a word from the man himself to show he knows whats going on here.

Neill

With any project of this size, there are bound to be a few minor errors. But the list below is just too big to be ignored. And some of the faults are just ridiculous, especially the disc errors. The "Life Changes" one is the worst I've ever come across.
To add to the list of faults, my copies of the Cross Singles discs didn't have any track or disc information on them.
I'm pleased the manufacturers appear to be trying to do something about this. But we will have to wait and see if what they do is enough. I'm one buyer of this box who will be doing what I can to make sure they put things right.

A. MURRAY

This is a slap-dash product belted out in a slipshod manner by industry heads that probably do not know who Roger Taylor is! The idea was simply "get 'em out before Christmas the minions will lap it up!" I'm sure Virgin/EMI understand the global recession and people are strapped for dosh. It's bad enough buying an expensive ornament, which this is, as most will have the CD albums, the extras are poor, but buying an expensive ornament riddled with errors is a sham! Finally who cares if it was remastered as this makes no difference to CD, as CD plays back in 16bit just like it did in the 80s! You can master at 24bit or 32bit or whatever, but standard CD is 16bit full stop. I'd rather blow the price of 'The Lot' on a load of second hand vinyl LPs in some old cool record shop instead of paying for mistakes! At least someone would benefit!

Doesn't the box set need to say inside and on the outside if it were digitally remastered from the original master source tapes like I understand that it was? Who gets credit for doing that? Where, when, and with what technology? Those are basic selling points in the industry for something like this considered so significant as a product on this level of production. It seems like this would be something the fans, promoters, and reviewing critics would be crawling all over each other to discuss. I understand the job was very well done...but no information concerning it.

Graham

Like other fans here I want this boxset to be worthy of the man himself. I really hope ALL errors will be fixed before the record company release further copies. It would be nice to have a full apology here from the record company along with an assurance that they have not taken a lazy quick fix approach before the rest of us commit our hard earned (and it is HARD earned) money to this purchase.

David

Why are you ignoring the issues raised below? You have deleted a huge number of previous comments relating to the mistakes on this compilation box. These can not be resolved by 'replacement disc'. The whiole thing needs to be scrapped and started again with fiull refunds to those unfortunate enough to have spent £80+ on your defective product.
