Were you a fan of Queen in the 1970s? BBC4 Want to Hear From You!

BBC 4 Music and Fashion documentary - Queen

Were you a fan of Queen in the 1970s?

We are looking to speak to people who lived through the early years of Queen’s success in the 70s for a BBC 4 documentary on the history of music and fashion in post-war Britain.

We are particularly interested in hearing from people who took fashion inspiration from Queen in the 70s and may still have some clothing from that period.

If you can identify with this and wouldn’t mind speaking to a member of the team about your experiences please contact ljoyner@oxfordscientificfilms.tv

I grew up listening to the Queen!
I was born in 1968 and my father, a musician born in 1919, was a big fan of the best band ever! We really rocked, and It seemed to me that he was perfect playing Queen's songs by ear.
My brother and my sister, with our cousins and me, used to play some musical numbers for the family. We tried to do our best to copy Brian , Roger, John and Freddie's fashion style, changing as time went by.
It's my favorite band forever!

I was a teenager in the 70's and Queen was my all time favourite band while growing up - and they still are, even though I am now into my 50's. I remember the bell-bottoms and platform shoes, with crop tops and short jackets. The hair cut short and the top and longer at the bottom. Freddie's voice still sends shivers down my spine; he had the most amazing voice ever. I was fortunate to see them once in concert when they came to South Africa in about 1984. That was the highlight of my musical journey! They will never be replicated by anybody every again.

Night at the opera was my first album when I was 8 years old in 1975. They have been my favorite band ever since. I miss Freddie he was the best singer. I wanted to go to one of your concerts but never made it before Freddie died.

I'd appear if I could, but unfortunately, I wasn't born at the time.

Yes, i was there, Kyuden gym in Fukuoka, Japan in 1976 March. I was 15 years old and lived in Hiroshima. I took a bullet train to go their concerts, Himeji and Fukuoka in 1976 and Okayama in 1975.
For a teenager in fareast, they looked like gods but afterward i found out they used to live in their tenements in London then.
Still their performances were so great. Thoes moments are one of the best monents in my life.
But i don't have any of the clothes of thoes days.

I wasn't born at this time :-(
