A Night At The Opera – Queen (EMI,1975)

Their forthalbum crystallised Queen’s constituent parts – camp, bombast, Vaudeville, mock opera – and sealed their breakthrough onto the international stage. It was home to their signature song, Freddie Mercury’s Bohemian Rhapsody, but here too were sweet love songs (You’re My Best Friend, Love Of My Life), biting rock (Death On Two Legs) and much more besides, all mixed into a cocktail as daringly outrageous as it was entertaining.
