One Vision - The Magic Of Queen

ONE VISION – THE MAGIC OF QUEEN

An exhibition with photos displaying the career of rock band QUEEN
staring 4th of April until 1st of June

In spring 2008 the Hochschule fur Musik Koln (The Cologne University of Music), situated right at the city center, will transform into an irrestible magnet for all those fans who are interested in the vision and making of the majesty of stadium rock: Queen.

More than 60 exhibits, several of them never before shown, have been collected for One Vision – The Magic of Queen. They form an impressive collection exclusively presented in the university’s foyer by Queen Productions and Michael Brenner, co-producer of the musical success We Will Rock You.

The opening on April 4th will be celebrated with an exceptional concert: students will perform together with the band and cast members of the musical We Will Rock You, thereby transfroming the university’s concert hall into a “Rock’n Roll Hall of Fame” in honour of Queen.

Founded in the early 70s, the band Queen consisted of guitarist Brian May, drummer Roger Taylor, bass guitarist John Deacon and singer Freddie Mercury. They soon developed an unique progressive style, saturated with hymnic but playful melodies and multi-track vocals , which has become their distinctive trademark sound in rock history. Their lyrics – partly corny puns, partly powerful poetry – continue to amaze listeners to this day. Their live concerts, held in the world’s biggest stadiums, were glamorous and spectacular, with extravagant costumes and gigantic light shows and sets. Just as spectacular is We Will Rock You, the musical conceived by Queen and Ben Elton, which has been enthusing audiences in the Musical Dome Cologne these past three years.

One of Queen’s visions has always been the merging of professionalism with artistic freedom and individual creativity. The Cologne University of Music is widely renowned for their interdisciplinary and international education. With more than 450 annual events, the University plays an active part in the region’s cultural life. The perfect setting to reflect the ideals of Queen with its vibrant music creation.

Queen loved the process of staging. Via these photographs, the band will once again recreate itself for the audience of One Vision – The Magic of Queen. Starting from 4th of April until 1st of June 2008, in the foyer of Hochschule für Musik Köln, Dagobertstraße 38, a 5 minutes walk from the Musical Dome on Breslauer Platz.

Free entry. The exhibition is open from 10.00 – 21.00 Uhr daily.
