'Little Freddie Goes To School' Raises £25,000 For The Mercury Phoenix Trust

September 2025 marks 10 years since the release of 'Little Freddie Goes To School' featuring rare vocals by the late, great Freddie Mercury.

Described by Rolling Stone Magazine as "powerful and hypnotic" the track has gone on to have a re-work, an animated video and a limited physical release.

As Queen fans from all over the world converge on the idyllic setting of Montreux, Switzerland this weekend to celebrate Freddie's 79th Birthday event, composer Stuart Leathem will be there too, 10 years on from the unveiling of his track featuring Freddie.

A combination of downloads, vinyl and CD sales have contributed more than £25,000 towards the work of The Mercury Phoenix Trust, fighting AIDS Worldwide since 1991.

Says Stuart of the track, "I clearly remember being sat glued to my TV watching the Freddie Tribute Concert in 1992, watching my heroes break down stigma around the AIDS epidemic with that monumental concert. It was, and is, the honour of a lifetime to be permitted to release this track with Freddie's vocal on it and be able to support the incredible work of the MPT all these years later. Freddie continues to be a shining light in the lives of folk all over the world, and the work of the Mercury Phoenix Trust is an invaluable extension of his compassion for those suffering from HIV/AIDS. What a legacy, eh? Thanks to all who have streamed the track, and here's to the next 10 years!”

'Little Freddie Goes To School' is streaming on all services worldwide, and the animated video is also available on YouTube and Apple Music.
